  1. WHAT does intentional living mean to you?

First, you want to find out what intentional living means to you. What does it look like and feel like?

Come up with your own definition of intentional living. You can learn how to do this in Ep. 125 Intentional Living.

Think of words or phrases that help you get very clear on what it means to you to be living with intention. Here are some examples:

  • Intentionally choosing how I’m using my time

  • Fully experiencing the day

  • Planning ahead of time

  • Living in the present moment

It might seem silly to take the time to write out your own definition, but we promise that if you take the time to get very clear on what it means to you - the more likely you’ll experience intentional living & be able to make the choices that help you get you there.

2. WHERE would you like to be more intentional with your time?

So now that you know what intentional living means to you, it’s time to find where you’d like to be more intentional with your time & then FOCUS on that area.

  • It could be a specific area of your life:

    1. Creative project

    2. Marriage

    3. Spirituality

    4. “Present mom time”

    5. Something else…

  • Or it could be a specific time of day or part of your schedule:

    1. Right when kids wake up

    2. The first 20 minutes of your work time

    3. While your waiting to pick kids up

    4. Right before dinner

    5. After kids go to bed, etc.

*If you feel like you could be more intentional with every area of your life, just pick ONE and go from there. You could also check out this post: Need a Life Overhaul? Start Anywhere.

3. WHY do you want to be more intentional with your time?

So now’s the time to find out WHY. What’s the real reason for WHY you want to be more intentional with your time.

Remember it could be a specific area of your life or a specific time of day or part of your schedule. Helping you find out your why, will help you make any change last.

  • I’d love to be more intentional with ___________ because________.

  • I’d like to be more intentional during _________ because_______.

A few ways to help you remember your why:

  • Maybe you write your “why” in your planner or on your to do list

  • Use it while you’re setting your intention for the day

  • Ask God to help you incorporate it into your day

4. HOW can you start being more intentional with your time?

How could you actually make this happen? How could that look? How are you going to do that?

Our favorite ways to take action:

  1. Start with tiny things you know how to do!

  2. It could be just a mindset shift or something practical that you do or change.

    • Coming up with a new mantra

    • Going to be earlier so you can wake up earlier

    • Communicating more clearly with your family & setting up some boundaries

    • Putting your phone on do not disturb

  3. Be sure to revisit your definition of intentional living and make sure it matches the action you want to take.
